Grand Theft Auto V beats James Bond in sales charts

The latest installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise sold 3.7 million copies in the UK alone last year, beating all films and albums in the sales charts

Grand Theft Auto V has become the fastest-selling entertainment product of all time.


Grand Theft Auto V was the biggest-selling entertainment product of 2013, beating out blockbusters such as firms like James Bond’s Skyfall and best-selling album, Now That’s What I Call Music compilation. Out of the top 20 best selling entertainment titles in 2013, 13 of them were firm, five were video games and two were music albums. Both of the albums were compilation, music from different artist. As Grand Theft Auto sold over 3.7 millions copies in the Uk alone in 2013.

Within one day the game sold over 500 million copies worldwide and after three days the game sold over 1 billion copies mark. Rockstar released the game at midnight on September the 27th, as queues build up and went around blocks and shops, they for people to pick up this game.  As the game beat Hollywood blockbusters and Christmas number ones.

"I think that GTA is a very creative game, as many Rockstar fans have been waiting for a GTA game to come out for six years now, as the stories and the different types of mission you can do on the games are very interesting and creative, so millions of people enjoy the game and love playing it, that’s why it sold over 1 billion copies around the world. As it not a game where it’s diverse, as many women as men bought the game and enjoyed the stories line to the game and the online missions."
