In the 2014 Brits Awards, they have set a new record as the most tweeted television show in the United Kingdom, However, the television show fail to its lowest rating level since 2006. The Brits reached up to 4.17 million tweets for the show, as it beat previous record holder Comic Relief in 2013, as they achieved 1.5 million tweets. On the show, this year they introduce and allowed the audience to vote via Twitter or the first time. The award was for best British video of the year, as the show reached 2 million tweets before the show started. The awards was won by British group, One Direction for their video, Best Song Ever, as Group member, Harry Styles, the king of retweets, reached up to 155,00 for a post thanking for voting.
  • There were about 2.17m tweets about the show itself, which alone is enough to make the Brit Awards 2014 the most tweeted about UK TV programme. Last year's event generated 1.5m tweets.

  • The show also set a new tweets-per-minute record for a UK TV show of 78,000, with Beyoncé proving to be the most talked about performer of the night on Twitter, followed by Arctic Monkeys.

  • There was less to cheer about on the live TV front with ITV's coverage, hosted by James Cordon for the fourth year in a row, slumping to its lowest level since 2006.

I think that it’s a great way to interact and communicate with other, especially on this platform where people are using the Internet to communicate and show their opinion and view on, by having Twitter and voting platform allowed the audience to vote for the first time, as this was a success and works for the ITV show on the night, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the show doesn’t do it again next year and the next few years to come, as they could do it for many of the other awards within the show like the Best British Alum of the year or Best female artist of the year.
