The Sun and Sunday Times publisher
New UK has now partnered up with the online and mobile clip rights to the Aviva
Premiership rugby, as this has boosted their online following to their sport
content where they show premier league and Champion League football rights. The
Sunday Times have now agreed deal with the Aviva Premiership rugby after BT
Sport released the rights. It will show the clips across the Sun, Times and Sunday
Times mobile and online offerings until June 2017. The deals has started with
immediate affect, which will starts with highlight of Friday evening encounter
between Bath and Saracens The clips will be available within three hours of the
matches finishing.
- Premiership Rugby's commercial director, Dominic Hayes, said: "Aviva Premiership Rugby is growing every season and this partnership brings the league to a brand new platform. This new deal brings a really compelling online offering for the Sun, Times and Sunday Times subscribers."
- News UK believes that sports content will help drive subscription numbers to its three UK news sites, which are behind pay walls. In January 2013 it acquired Premier League rights, beating off a challenge from BSkyB, and has subsequently acquired Champions League and Europa League rights.
- BT is the current holder of the Aviva Premiership rugby TV rights, which it snatched from BSkyB in September 2012.
I think that Sun and Times have found a huge and big
gap in the market to offer their customers, clips of football goals and highlight
rugby on their phone. Already having many of the other services News Uk have,
it will allow them to expand their business and increase sales and reputation
for the business. Also, they have team up with a popular and well trusted
companies with this service and this offer, The Sun has a lot of customers from
using this service of showing clips and videos to the customers via the thought
their own website, however, they have team up with News UK because they know
that they are a popular newspaper business, used around the country by million
and a great way to target more customers to use the service.
